AANJI
AANJI is a 3D adventure game and visual experience that explores ideas such as change, rebirth, and the destruction of nature through the eyes of a small and vulnerable creature whose journey through life is being greatly impacted.
Contrasting the vibrancy of nature with the monotony of a city, AANJI draws parallels between the cycling changes of a caterpillar to that of the Earth, using Indigenous art and imagery in order to do so.
“Sitting atop a leaf carried away by the wind, Aanji the caterpillar hatches in the midst of the bustling city of Toronto with one goal in mind: to return home to the giant tree that stands towering in the distance. The task is daunting and the road ahead will be dangerous for a thing so small. All that stands in the way between Aanji and home is the stomping feet, honking cars and the ever increasing amounts of trash and hazards that comes with a polluted and rapidly deteriorating city.
Aanji will need to grow up fast in order to survive, and will need to scavenge for the dwindling leaves in order to do so. Watch as Aanji progresses on its adventure in hopes of becoming a butterfly, and observe as the city around it regresses, standing in the way of the little bug.”
